The New Duty to Prevent Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

24th October 2024

Claire Hollins, Partner

Since the 26th October 2024 employers are under a new duty to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 inserts a new section into the Equality Act 2010 that requires employers to take reasonable steps to prevent the sexual harassment of employees during the course of their employment. Under proposals contained in the Employment Rights Bill (which you can read about here) this will be extended to require employers to take all reasonable steps.

We wrote about the new obligations  and what you need to do here. You can also watch the recording of our September HR Breakfast when we discussed the new obligations and the practical steps that employers should take here.

We can help you to carry out a risk assessment and put in place appropriate policies for your organisation. We also offer a comprehensive and bespoke training package. Please get in touch with a member of the team on 0161 832 3434 or email info@kuits.com if this is something we can help with.
